About Dr. Susan Clifford

Susan Clifford, PhD

Susan Clifford, PhD., is a California and Oregon licensed clinical psychologist and a certified nutrition consultant with approximately 20 years experience providing psychotherapy to adults, couples, adolescents, and children. Dr. Clifford earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She did her pre- and post-doctoral internships at California Pacific Medical Center’s Adolescent Day Treatment Program in San Francisco, and the Ann Martin Center in Piedmont California. She studied holistic nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley. When appropriate she integrates this body of knowledge with her training as a psychologist in order to treat her patients more effectively.


Her academic experience includes teaching human development to both undergraduate and graduate students, and supervising and teaching clinical psychology interns. She has taught at JFK University and New College of California.

Dr. Clifford studied EMDR with Dr. Laurel Parnell, one of the most experienced and talented teachers and practitioners of EMDR in the world. She also completed a biofeedback training program accredited by Biofeedback Certification Institute of America, and taught by Dr. Phillip A Hughes. In addition, she regularly attends continuing education courses sponsored by the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, of which she is a long-standing member.

Dr. Clifford enjoys hiking in the beautiful wild lands of Central Oregon, where she now resides, growing backyard herbs and tomatoes, and cooking and eating with friends and family.
